Noor I in pictures

Morocco’s first CSP plant is to be launched in the second semester of this year and CSP wanted to show you some of the most impressive pictures of the project.

The 160 MWe parabolic trough project is being built in the Ouarzazate Province, 200 kilometres south of the city of Marrakesh. Images are courtesy of the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN).

Noor I is being developed by a consortium made up by Acciona, ACWA Power, Aries, Sener and TSK. Acting as engineering, procurement and construction companies are Acciona, Sener and TSK, whereas Aries is undertaking the role of owners engineer.

Construction works at the site began on 1 June 2013. The plant is equipped with a thermal energy storage system, comprising two tanks of molten salts that will provide three hours of storage.

530,000 mirrors were supplied by FLABEG FE for the plant. Other suppliers include Dow Dowtherm, Siemens, Sugimat S.L. and Flowserve.
