ACWA Power win 100MW bid with an unprecedented 5.98 cents/kWh

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai’s state utility, has announced ACWA Power as the preferred bidder of their 100MW PV IPP tender, having received a total of ten bids. The results saw Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power bid an unprecedented 5.98 cents/kWh.

The average of the ten bids was $9.35 cents/kWh. The highest bid, came from the Chinese developer Huaneng Power International, at $14.7 cents per kWh. Whilst First Solar, the developer of the initial 13MW pilot phase of the project, placed a bid of $8.65 cents/kWh.

 

DEWA is planning to build a total of 1,000MWat the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
