National Society of Mining will present at ChileSol 2014 this May

Álvaro Merino, Research Manager at the National Society of Mining (SONAMI) will share a presentation on the mining landscape in Chile in front of the international photovoltaic industry in ChileSol 2014 (27 & 28 May, Santiago de Chile).

On Tuesday 27th of May the National Society of Mining will join the international and solar industry at the 2nd Chilean Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (ChileSol 2014). Álvaro Merino, SONAMI´S Research Manager, will give a presentation aimed at mapping out the development of mining in Chile.

All the challenges that the most important sector in Chile faces will by outlined by Merino, including energy issues. SONAMI´s contribution in the conference is set to provide the solar sector a clear understanding of the opportunities there are to meet the energy demands from the mining sector.

Currently Chile has several mines powered partially by photovoltaic plants, as it is the case of Quiborax in Arica with a 2.4 MW installation by E-CL and Codelco with a 1MW plant by SolarPack. There are over 125MW under construction to supply mines owned by Collahuasi and CAP.

Álavaro Merino will be joined by other key players in the mining scene in Chile such Adolfo López from the Chilean Copper Commission. All leading developers from the PV industry will be present such as E-CL, SunEdison, SolarPack and Solairedirect.
