Novera submits wind site planning application

Novera has submitted its 11th wind site planning application in little over two years. The independent UK renewable energy company shared that the latest application for the four-turbine Bullamoor Wind Farm was made to Hambleton District Council.

The site has an anticipated capacity of 10-12MW and is located approximately 2km east of Brompton in North Yorkshire.

The company highlighted that Bullamoor has been selected as a suitable site as it has a number of attributes which allow for the development of a wind farm with minimal environmental effects. As part of the site selection process, feasibility studies were undertaken and these indicated that the site had excellent potential because of its exposed location on a broad ridge, elevated above surrounding land. This typically creates good wind conditions. There are also no environmental designations on the site which is owned and occupied by three local landowners and is mainly managed farmland bordered by hedgerows.

David Fitzsimmons, CEO of Novera, said the application maintained the momentum in the company's wind portfolio "despite challenging economic times".

"Of the 11 applications, the 30MW Lissett Airfield is under construction and two sites with a combined capacity of up to 73MW are consented. Looking forward to 2009, we expect to receive planning decisions on the remaining eight sites now in planning and to submit further applications during the course of the year," said Fitzsimmons.

Novera's wind portfolio also includes the 15MW Mynydd Clogau Wind Farm in mid-Wales which has been in production since January 2006.
