SeaEnergy to form a JV with Airtricity

SeaEnergy has signed Heads of Terms to form a JV with Airtricity, a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy plc. SeaEnergy has a 25 percent stake in the JV with Airtricity.

Through this venture, SeaEnergy has recently applied for offshore wind farm acreage pursuant to the Crown Estate's Offshore Windfarm Development within Scottish Territorial Waters. SeaEnergy has also applied for further acreage in this licencing round with other partner. The results of this round are expected to be announced by the Crown Estate by the end of this year.

These developments emerged as energy investment company Ramco Energy provided an update on its 88 percent-owned subsidiary SeaEnergy Renewables Limited.

According to a report filed by pressandjournal.co.uk, Ramco has already indicated that it was participating in both the UK and separate Scottish bidding processes for award of leases for industrial-scale offshore wind farm sites.

SeaEnergy chief executive Joel Staadecker reportedly said the subsidiary had teamed up with industry partners to make three separate bids in the Crown Estate's current Scottish licencing round. Further applications for offshore wind farm acreage will be made in time for next year's deadline for bids in the UK round, he added.

Other than the bid submitted with Airtricity, the two other bids submitted are both with a separate, undisclosed partner, shared the report.
