Deadline approaching for nominations at the Wind O&M Excellence Awards

Wind Energy Update, in collaboration with E.ON and Danish Wind Power Academy Americas, have announced they will host the first Wind O&M industry awards ceremony at the leading North American Wind Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Dallas Summit (...

These are the first awards of their kind and the only ceremony in North America to honour wind O&M exclusively. They are intended to celebrate some of the many outstanding achievements and on-going technological excellence the industry has witnessed over the past 12 months.

When asked why they had chosen to support the awards, E.ON’s Senior Manager of Renewable's stated; We’re looking forward to celebrating the exciting developments in our industry and recognizing those organizations with strong commitments to excellence and innovation.”

Managing Director at DWPAA, Carsten Anderson, also commented;
The key term is benchmarking performance” (…) “We’d like to show that it is possible to develop an O&M strategy and a trained workforce that can actually do the job”. Through the event we’d like to motivate employers to see it makes sense to invest in their workforce, turning new technicians into ‘human assets’ for the future success of O&M"
CEO of US Operations, Shawn Lamb, at DWPAA, added;
We're very happy to partner with E.ON, specifically because of their best in class efforts in O&M and the fact that they put such a high value on developing their technicians in the field through training”

Given the rate at which the wind industry is tipped to grow – 68.9 GW in 2014 to 104.1 GW in 2020 (GlobalData) and especially the scope for new companies entering the O&M sector – the awards are a welcome addition to the industry.

The 2015 Wind O&M Excellence Award categories include:

1. Best Technological Innovation
2. Best Example of O&M Excellence
3. Wind Farm Owner of the Year
4. Wind Turbine Manufacturer of the Year
